Season tickets and single tickets for students
Various ticket products are available for students. Full-time students and foreign exchange and degree students are eligible for discounted personal season or single tickets. The student discount is granted for a maximum of one year at a time and is valid until the end of August of the following year.

You are eligible for a student discount if
- Your studies are full-time
- Your studies lead to a profession or degree
- The academic year is at least 8 months long
Students not eligible for student discount
- Students studying for a doctoral degree or licentiate degree at a university
- Apprenticeship trainees
- People in labor market training
- Private students
- People studying abroad
How to buy a student ticket
Student season tickets and single tickets are available with the following payment methods:

To get student benefits, you need to have a valid student customer group. You can update your student customer group in the Waltti store or at a service and ticket sales point. When visiting a sales point, you will need a student certificate or student card that is no more than three months old and has a valid academic year sticker to update your customer group. For mobile tickets, the update must be done online. To update your information online, you will need a Finnish personal identification number
After updating your student status, you can top up your travel card online and at top-up points during the validity period of your customer group and purchase student-priced tickets from the mobile app.
A school transport subsidy ticket
Kela school travel subsidy tickets are season tickets intended for secondary school students, for which students must apply for a school travel subsidy from Kela by filling out a Kela school travel subsidy application.
