Finnish Air Force exercise to affect public transport in the Rissala and Jännevirta areas from 18 to 25 November 2026
The Finnish Air Force’s Protective Fence 26 exercise will cause temporary traffic arrangements and movement restrictions around the Rissala Air Base from 18 to 25 November 2026. Due to the exercise, the section of road between Jännevirta and Toivala will be closed to traffic, which will also affect public transport routes and timetables.
Routes operating via Jännevirta to use a diversion route
During the road closure, public transport services will not be able to operate along their normal routes. Instead, services will be diverted via Uuhilahdentie and Ranta-Toivalantie. Due to the longer journey time caused by the diversion, minor changes will be made to the departure times of routes 81 and 82 for the duration of the exercise.
Route 81 diversion timetables
Services on Route 90, which is procured by Traficom, will aim to operate according to their normal departure times during the exercise. However, the temporary traffic arrangements may affect traffic flow, and passengers should be prepared for possible delays.
Airport Route 40 to operate via Jälä
Route 40, which operates between Kuopio city centre and Kuopio Airport, will also use a diversion route during the exercise. The route will not be able to follow its normal route through the Rissala area and will instead operate via Jälä.
Route 40 diversion timetables
The diversion will slightly increase journey times, so passengers are advised to allow some extra time for their journeys.
Be prepared for possible delays
The diversion routes and temporary traffic arrangements may cause delays to all services operating in the area. Vilkku will monitor traffic conditions throughout the exercise and provide information about any additional changes on its website and social media channels.
